Baytech Announces 2008 GM and Isuzu Truck Conversions

Baytech Corporation has received 2008 EPA and CARB certifications for Baytech’s compressed natural gas (CNG) and propane fueled GM 8.1L and 6.0L heavy-duty engines. The heavy-duty engines are now available for new 2008 and 2009 model year vehicles. The engines are offered in both dedicated CNG or propane and dual fuel (CNG or gasoline and propane or gasoline) configurations in all 50 states.

Baytech’s CNG and propane 8.1L engines are certified for use in the GMC Topkick/Chevrolet Kodiak C Series and Workhorse heavy-duty vehicles. The CNG and propane 6.0L engines are certified for use in the GMC/Chevrolet W4500, GMC Savanna/Chevrolet Express 4500 Cutaway Van, Isuzu NPR HD and Workhorse heavy-duty vehicles.

“These certifications continue Baytech’s dedication to offering our fleet customers a broad line-up of CNG and propane fueled GM, Workhorse and Isuzu vehicles and engines,” says Richard Turner, Baytech’s Vice President.

Baytech is proceeding with development and certification of CNG systems for light duty GM, Isuzu, and Workhorse vehicles equipped with the 6.0L engine. Baytech expects to have CNG systems for these vehicles available for the 2009 model year.

The CNG and propane engines incorporate Baytech’s sequential Multi-Point Fuel Injection technology for gaseous fuels. Baytech’s engine calibration software optimizes closed-loop fuel control, spark advance and other engine parameters to achieve high performance and low emissions. Engine diagnostics functions are accessed through the vehicle’s diagnostic port with the same scanner tools used for gasoline diagnostics.
