Thermo King‘s Tier IV truck unit engines, found in all new Thermo King truck units, have been shown to be significantly cleaner burning than the competition. During recent extensive testing, it was found that the Thermo King engines ran cleaner than competitive units in several key areas.

Testing determined that the Thermo King engine ran 38 percent cleaner on Particulate Matter emissions, 10 percent cleaner on NOx emissions and 54 percent cleaner on Carbon Monoxide emissions than the competitive engine.

“Working closely with our supply partners, we’ve been able to develop a value-added diesel engine solution,” says Tim Ryan, truck product manager for Thermo King. Thermo King’s Tier IV engines, which the company launched in 2006, feature more horsepower than their predecessors, have EPA certification and meet ARB standards, all while maintaining best-in-class service intervals.

For customers who want to upgrade to the Tier IV engine-equipped truck unit, Thermo King offers a new-for-old exchange program, rather than the retrofit option available from the competition. “The new-for-old exchange program makes a lot more economic sense for the customer,” says Ryan. “For truck applications, customers will realize lower operating costs over time than if they put a Tier IV engine in an older unit.” For more information, contact your local Thermo King dealer.
